Apple presented its 2026 AI strategy at WWDC, centering on Xcode 27 agentic coding, App Intents, the Foundation Models framework (with on-device, Private Cloud Compute, and third-party model options including Anthropic and Google), the new Core AI framework, and open-source MLX. The emphasis is a vertically integrated, privacy-focused AI stack spanning silicon to developer tools, positioning Apple against competitors' bolt-on approaches and notably offering frontier-level intelligence at no cloud API cost.
