RFD4-Proteina: How IPD Researchers and NVIDIA Design New Proteins with AI
NVIDIA and Baker Lab's RFD4-Proteina model designs proteins 1000x better in days vs years
“I've been working on this problem for a year. With the new model, RFdiffusion4-Proteina, we did it in just four days. And not only that, but the best one that we found was over 1,000 times better than the previous enzymes I had developed over the past year.”
NVIDIA Research and the University of Washington's Baker Lab jointly released RFD4-Proteina, a protein design model combining RFdiffusion and Proteina Complexa architectures. The model demonstrated a 10-to-1,000-fold improvement in binding affinity for designed proteins and compressed a year-long enzyme design effort into four days. This represents a significant acceleration in computational drug discovery and enzyme engineering with broad implications for biotech and pharmaceutical development.
