Microsoft Foundry separates agent identity, conversation state, and executable workspace into distinct controls
“Agent memories becoming ordinary cloud data architecture.”
Microsoft detailed two independent isolation controls for Azure AI Foundry hosted agents: user isolation (whose data a request may access) and session isolation (the VM sandbox where code and state persist), making these explicit architectural decisions rather than one opaque session object. A public preview LangChain integration also adds Azure Blob storage as a durable virtual file system for agents, enabling state to persist across processes and be shared across agents. Together these updates signal Microsoft's push to productionize agent infrastructure with cloud-native primitives for memory, isolation, and state management.
