DeepSeek has released a free, open-source agentic harness that can self-extend by generating new capabilities on user request, backed by an 88-page technical paper. Unlike existing frameworks, it supports fully customizable UI and agents, and critically, the system rewrites itself rather than requiring manual modification. Stability is maintained through built-in cleanup and undo machinery that automatically reverses changes, making self-modification safe and reversible.
