Did Anthropic just kill the indie hacker...?

Claude Opus 5 delivers near Fable-level intelligence at half the price with autonomous error recovery

“Anthropic says it also verifies its own work and recovers from its own mistakes without human intervention.”

Anthropic released Claude Opus 5, its fourth frontier model in eight weeks, featuring a 1M token context window, five thinking levels, and autonomous self-correction capabilities — all at roughly half the cost of Fable. The model sets new coding benchmarks and can verify and recover from its own mistakes without human intervention, accelerating concerns about AI displacing software developers. A notable tradeoff: its hallucination rate on knowledge tests rose 14 percentage points to 50%, meaning it confidently fabricates answers more often when uncertain.
