Apple releases Enhanced Security Xcode capability giving developers iPhone-grade memory safety protections
“Memory safety is foundational for security, and without it, we can't guarantee the higher level security properties.”
Apple's WWDC session introduces Enhanced Security, a layered memory safety framework now available to third-party developers via Xcode, using the same techniques Apple applies to Messages, Safari, and Mail. The talk covers five memory safety axes and demonstrates how buffer overflows can lead to full process compromise. While relevant to secure AI application development, this is a general platform security announcement with no direct AI-specific signal.
