Postgres isn’t slow, your storage is | POSETTE: An Event for Postgres 2026
Local NVMe storage runs Postgres ~100x faster than EBS by eliminating the disk I/O bottleneck behind most performance problems.
“Postgres isn't slow. Your storage is.”
ClickHouse's Sai Srirampur argues at POSETTE 2026 that most Postgres performance issues (slow ingestion, P95 spikes, lagging VACUUMs, slow checkpoints and logical replication) trace back to disk I/O, and that local NVMe storage closes the latency gap to behave like a second tier of memory. It's a useful database-engineering insight but is infrastructure-focused with no direct AI signal.
