Build Small Hackathon
Hugging Face kicks off the 'Build Small' hackathon celebrating small, fine-tunable models over large API providers.
Hugging Face opened its 'Build Small' hackathon with a kickoff livestream, framing the event as a reaction to an AI scene dominated by large API inference providers and pitching a return to tinkerable, fine-tunable small models. The hackathon has two tracks, including a 'Backyard AI' track focused on building genuinely useful tools for people close to participants. The content is largely an intro/logistics stream with limited hard news beyond the small-models framing.
