Jerry Tworek (ex-OpenAI VP, led o1/strawberry and reasoning teams) and Rohan Anil (ex-Gemini pre-training lead, Google Brain, Anthropic) have founded Core Automation, a new San Francisco AI lab. Tworek argues that transformer replacement requires exploiting their weaknesses rather than just making them cheaper, while both founders suggest reinforcement learning is only one of several future learning-from-experience paradigms.
