Getting Started with Managed Agents

Google Developers (Google I/O) · Jun 02, 2026 · Product Launches

Google launches Managed Agents in Gemini API and AI Studio, running customizable agents in Google-hosted secure Linux sandboxes.

“those agents are running in a secure Linux sandbox that's hosted by Google and those agents can reason, they can write code and write code to the files on the system and manage the files, they can also browse the web”

Google introduced Managed Agents for the Gemini API and AI Studio, letting developers build customizable agents that run in Google-hosted secure Linux sandboxes where they can reason, write and execute code, manage files, and browse the web. It includes an 'antigravity agent' preview powered by Gemini 3.5 Flash using the same harness as the Antigravity IDE, and supports agents.md files and agent skills. This matters as Google's move to make hosted, sandboxed agentic infrastructure a first-class API primitive, competing directly with other agent platforms.
