AWS upgraded Amazon Polly's Generative engine with more expressive speech, improved accuracy for numbers and addresses, and 14 new voices across 9 locales including Hindi and Finnish for the first time. The upgrade is a drop-in replacement requiring no API changes. While significant for TTS-dependent applications, this is an incremental product improvement rather than a foundational AI industry shift.
