Meta open-sources MetaRoCE RDMA transport and launches OSPA networking standardization initiative
At the 2026 OCP Global Summit, Meta revealed a suite of networking innovations powering its Muse AI models and gigawatt-scale Prometheus supercluster, including liquid-cooled IcePack racks, a flattened 2-tier GPU fabric, and Ethernet scale-up switches. Most notably, Meta is open-sourcing MetaRoCE, its RDMA transport protocol for AI networks, and co-leading OSPA with Microsoft and Alibaba to standardize the switch platform layer.
