Google replaces open-source Gemini CLI with closed-source Antigravity CLI on June 18th

Google I/O 2026 introduced Gemini Spark, a personal AI agent integrating Gmail, Calendar, Drive and other Google apps, running on Gemini 3.5 Flash and the mysterious 'Antigravity' runtime. Separately, Google is deprecating its open-source Apache 2.0 TypeScript Gemini CLI in favor of a closed-source Go-based Antigravity CLI, a significant shift away from open tooling. Security concerns around prompt injection in Gemini Spark are noted, with Google citing ephemeral VMs and an Agent Gateway with DLP policies as mitigations.
