AWS has launched a Managed Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Base that handles ingestion, indexing, and retrieval natively, eliminating the need for self-managed OpenSearch infrastructure. The new AgenticRetrieveStream API enables multi-turn agentic retrieval where an agent decides which knowledge base to query and whether to retrieve again before composing a cited answer. Amazon Bedrock AgentCore exposes knowledge bases as MCP tools, marking a significant evolution from single-shot RAG to orchestrated, reasoning-driven retrieval.
