A developer discovered that the OpenAI Codex (now ChatGPT) desktop app ships a 1.7GB local runtime including Python, Node.js, git, Poppler, and a headless LibreOffice installation. The bundled 'skills' plugin system lets Codex invoke these binaries to process documents locally.
