Evaluate skill-equipped agents with Strands Evals and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore

Strands Evals and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore add skill-focused evaluators to measure agent skill selection and instruction following.

“A skill is a reusable set of instructions, usually stored in a SKILL.md file, that teaches an agent a domain-specific task like redacting a contract, reconciling an invoice, or following a team’s pull-request conventions.”

AWS introduced skill-focused evaluators in the Strands Evals SDK and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Evaluations to measure whether agents select the appropriate skill and fully follow its instructions, addressing failure modes that general output-quality metrics miss. This matters because as agents adopt the modular, portable Agent Skills standard, teams need trajectory- and trace-based evaluation to verify agents actually use prescribed domain procedures rather than just producing plausible responses.
