Stream low-latency speech from AI agents using Kokoro TTS on Amazon SageMaker AI
Streaming TTS sentence-by-sentence on SageMaker cuts AI voice agent latency from 5s to near-instant
AWS demonstrates a pattern for reducing perceived latency in AI voice agents by streaming each sentence to a Kokoro-82M TTS model on SageMaker as it is generated, rather than waiting for the full response. The 82M-parameter model runs cheaply on a single ml.g5.xlarge GPU and supports both HTTP streaming and bidirectional WebSocket transports. This is a practical engineering pattern for production voice agents but not a major industry announcement.
