A new feature for my blog, built using my voice
Simon Willison built a working Django feature entirely by voice using GPT-6 Astra High
“I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to build, and it's a simple enough Django feature that I was certain the model (in this case GPT-6 Astra High) would be able to do it.”
Simon Willison used ChatGPT's Codex voice mode running GPT-6 Astra High to build a Django newsletter index page while cooking dinner, directing the model entirely through disfluent, conversational speech. The model handled rambling, unstructured instructions and produced a complete feature including a new Django model, migrations, views, templates, and multiple import functions. This is a practical proof-of-concept for voice-driven coding as a real workflow, not just a demo.
