Build and run agents at scale with Microsoft Foundry at Build 2026
Microsoft launches unified Agent Platform at Build 2026 covering build, deploy, and operate layers
“The hard part starts after the prototype.”
Microsoft announced the Microsoft Agent Platform at Build 2026, a three-layer system integrated into Microsoft Foundry that covers agent development, deployment, and operations. The platform unifies Semantic Kernel and AutoGen into a new open-source Microsoft Agent Framework, adds hosted agent infrastructure with long-running agent support, and introduces production tracing and evaluation loops. This matters because it positions Microsoft as the enterprise runtime layer for agents, directly competing with AWS Bedrock Agents and Google Vertex AI agents at the infrastructure level.
