AWS is addressing a critical enterprise RAG gap: existing replicate-and-filter ACL approaches leave stale permission windows where revoked users can still receive sensitive AI-generated answers. Amazon Quick and Amazon Bedrock Knowledge Bases solve this by verifying permissions directly with authoritative sources at query time rather than relying on periodic syncs. This matters because permissioning is one of the top blockers for enterprise RAG adoption, and a real-time enforcement layer changes the security calculus for deployments touching SharePoint, Google Drive, and Confluence.
